Frequently Asked Questions

General Coaching

What is coaching?

Coaching is a collaborative partnership that focuses on helping you clarify your goals. Identify your strengths and create actionable strategies to move forward in your life. It's a process that empowers you to take control of your own journey. Make choices that align with your values and desires and live intentionally.

I act as your partner in this process. Supporting you and empowering you to discover your own inner wisdom. I maintain the ICF Code of Ethics and have demonstrated the ICF Core Competencies. Especially as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

How is coaching different from therapy or consulting?

Coaching is different from therapy, which focuses on healing past wounds. It's different from consulting, which focuses on providing expert advice. Coaching is grounded in the present, looking toward the future. It is action-oriented, and centers your own ability to create your desired future.

As your coach, I believe that you are the expert on your own life. As an ethical practitioner, I work hard to maintain the role of coach. I will refer you to therapy or another service when appropriate. Many clients choose coaching as a complement to therapy or other modality.

What is your coaching style?

My coaching style is bold, authentic, and empathetic. I combine my personal experiences with advocacy and social awareness. Emphasizing empowerment, inclusivity, and practical change.

I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where you feel comfortable. Where you can be vulnerable. Express the full range of your emotions. As well as challenge societal norms. I value collaboration, and will work with you as a partner in your growth.

What does "crip time" mean, and how does it relate to your coaching?

"Crip time" is a way of understanding the different pace at which disabled people may live and work. In my practice, this means that I am flexible. I accommodate and understand your various needs for time and scheduling. My coaching is not based on an ableist understanding of productivity. I value each person's unique way of living and working.

Do you offer a sliding scale for your coaching services?

Yes. I believe coaching should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their economic circumstances. I offer a sliding scale based on an adapted form of the Green Bottle model of financial privilege. I ask you consider your finances and social context when determining what you can afford.

How do I book a free consultation?

You can book a free consultation through the client portal page. During this consultation, we can explore your needs and goals. As well as determine if my coaching services are a good fit for you.
